A Magical Elopement in the Forest at Wallace Falls State Park

These two had a magical elopement in the forest at Wallace Falls State Park. The park is in Gold Bar, Washington,  just a bit north of Seattle.  About a year before their elopement, I took photos of them for their 3 year anniversary of dating. Although they were engaged at that time, they only had a vision for what they wanted for their wedding, but had not yet made any plans.  I remember they told me they wanted something pretty and quiet in the middle of the forest. Then they moved to the Seattle area. I was so happy to hear from them when they began their official planning.

Their day was just as they had described to me a year earlier. We hiked into the woods for quite a while. It was lush and quiet, and we only saw a handful of other hikers. They had 2 of their friends as witnesses, and their cute puppy. They had their puppy wearing a bandanna around her neck that read “flower girl”.

Elopement In The Forest

They had chosen a secluded spot next to a rocky stream for their elopement in the forest. The bride may have been wearing a traditional wedding dress, but underneath she was wearing hiking shoes! Her bouquet was made of mostly lavender, and smelled so good. She wanted to have a first look before the ceremony, so the groom had walked ahead and was waiting for us.

They had a short and sweet ceremony, and their friend officiated. It included a handfasting ceremony which used a pretty braided ribbon in their wedding colors.

Portraits In The Forest

After the ceremony we walked around the forest to take portraits. The entire location felt so magical, and the sun shining through gave some amazing light. On the hike out of the forest, we stopped to pick berries. The couple even played with a cute little vole that was running around their feet.
