This wedding at the Portland Yacht Club kicked off the year’s wedding season! I had never been to the Portland Yacht Club before, but it is such a great venue, especially for an indoor wedding. The venue does have the option for an outdoor wedding, however in March it’s safe to plan for indoors. This bride and groom have been together for ten years. In fact, this wedding was on their ten year anniversary!
The wedding colors were navy and white, with accents of a peachy pink. Great colors for a wedding by the water! The bridesmaids wore navy dresses and the flower girls wore pink dresses. The reception tables were covered in navy tablecloths, which contrasted well with the white chairs. A pink candle in a shallow glass bowl filled with sand and seashells were centerpieces. The wedding ceremony was in front of giant windows that overlooks the marina. The couple had a sand ceremony in honor of the bride’s son, symbolizing the joining of them as one family. I photographed the groomsmen before the wedding and the couple saw each other for the first time as the bride walked down the aisle. Afterwards I photographed the bridesmaids and wedding party in the lawn that overlooks the marina.
After the ceremony I took photos of the bride and groom with their family, as well as with the wedding party. Afterwards I took the couple to the marina for some portraits on the Columbia River with the sailboats. The river was especially calm which made for some great reflection on the water. There’s just something about a white wedding dress against colors of a marina that always looks lovely. And then the party started! This group had so much fun dancing! The bride and groom had a money dance, which requires guests to clip dollar bills to the couple’s clothes to dance with them. It’s always hilarious to document the couple having so much fun with money clipped all over them! One of the groomsmen threw two dollar bills in the air when it was his turn to dance with the bride, which was a fun touch.
