This Burgaw NC wedding was extra special because the bride is a dear friend from my hometown. It was a whirlwind week and I got to help with all kinds of wedding crafts and activities, which made the experience even more unforgettable.

A Week of Flowers and Preparation

The celebration started earlier in the week with bridal portraits at Old River Farms. The flower fields were in full bloom and created the perfect setting. The next day, we returned to pick flowers for the wedding.

We gathered buckets of zinnias and sunflowers and smartweed, filling about eight buckets in total. Afterward, we spent hours prepping stems and creating arrangements. We made bouquets, boutonnieres, table vases, and large altar pieces for the ceremony. Every detail felt personal because we created it all by hand.

Me and one of my other very old friends also created a photobooth backdrop for the reception. We cut, folded, and assembled about 50 tissue paper flowers to resemble zinnias and sunflowers in the same colors. Then we attached them to a gold curtain

On the wedding day, we finished the floral backdrop for the altar cross at Burgaw Baptist Church. It turned out beautifully and added so much heart and color to the ceremony space.

A Sweet and Personal Ceremony

The bride got ready at home, which I think always adds an extra personal touch to the day. The atmosphere felt relaxed and full of excitement.

Her son and dad walked her down the aisle, and the way her son kept looking up at her was unforgettable. There were so many special moments throughout the ceremony. I also love that they decided to have their guests shower them with dried flowers as they left the church, rather than at the end of the night.

A Joyful Celebration to End the Day

After the ceremony, we headed to the historic Burgaw Train Depot for the reception.

Guests laughed, celebrated, and enjoyed the details throughout the space. At one point, a rainbow appeared during the reception, which felt like the perfect ending to such a meaningful day.

This Burgaw NC wedding was filled with love, creativity, and so many unforgettable moments.
