This wedding ceremony aboard the Crystal Dolphin was a highlight of my year! The Crystal Dolphin is part of The Portland Spirit fleet, which everyone in Portland should be familiar with! The Portland Spirit is the sightseeing/brunch/dinner/sunset/party/dance cruise ship that travels up and down the Willamette year round! I’m actually surprised I’ve lived here for as long as I have without checking it out! Anyway, they have several other boats, including the Crystal Dolphin, that you can rent for your private event.
When I met this adorable couple and they jokingly, but seriously, suggested they might show up to their engagement shoot wearing scuba gear, I knew they were going to be a blast to work with! No, they did not show up to their engagement session in scuba gear, but they did show up wearing mermaid and merman costumes! If you follow along with me on Instagram, you may have seen some of the sneak peaks from that fun session!
Ceremony Aboard the Crystal Dolphin
These two met on a scuba diving trip in Belize and although they lived several states apart, they instantly became inseparable. They’ve been on many scuba diving trips since, and love spending time in and on the water. Therefore, having their wedding on a boat was the perfect complement to their personalities and their relationship.
The bride’s favorite color also happens to be aqua, which was perfect for a water and ocean themed wedding! She paid such great attention to the details, and was so thoughtful in all the small touches to make the day special. Although the boat didn’t set sail until the evening, the adventure started with a brunch buffet for everyone. I love that the couple really made the day what they wanted it to be and incorporated meaningful touches to the two of them… like breakfast for dinner!
Sailing Along the Willamette
The boat first headed South along the Willamette, down past Lake Oswego. It was a beautiful day, and the river is so pretty. There are so many gorgeous floating homes and hillside homes that are fun to look at. One home even had a floating plane docked! After a couple of hours, the captain stopped the boat along a cool rock wall. Everyone headed to the roof where the wedding vows were exchanged. Their friend officiated, and they had a cute sand ceremony. Afterwards, everyone blew bubbles and the couple shared a dance.
The boat then headed North and we sailed underneath the bridges with the skyline view and a beautiful sunset. But it doesn’t end there! A couple days later, I met up with the couple at Cannon Beach for a fun photo shoot of the two of them in their wedding attire. But, I’ll stop chatting now and let the photos tell the rest of the story!
It was so beautiful..congratulations
