This fall backyard wedding near Argay Park in Portland had perfect autumn colors and weather. These two have been working non-stop for months to remodel their backyard for this big day! And, it turned out beautifully!

A Surprise Baby Announcement

I started this day by meeting the groom at Argay Park to set up for the couple’s first look. There were some gorgeous yellow fall trees, which made the perfect canopy and backdrop for the portraits. The bride arrived, followed by all the family, and watched as the couple saw each other for the first time that day. After some sweet moments between the two of them, and then some portraits with the family, they had an even sweeter surprise announcement to make to their family!

After lining up the entire family for a portrait, I pulled the couple forward, and they pulled out a cute baby onesie for a few photos (without the family seeing). And then they turned around, made a little announcement, and revealed the onesie. The onesie said “coming soon” with little baby footprints. The reactions on their faces were priceless, and everyone was crying! I love being able to document moments like these.

After some more portraits of the couple in the park, we headed to their home for the ceremony!

Fall Backyard Wedding Near Argay Park

The couple’s backyard was so cute and a perfect layout for an intimate wedding. They had two long dinner tables on either side of the ceremony aisle, and a set of steps led up to the ceremony space under the trees. There were so many cute details! I especially loved their guest book, which was a custom-made wooden connect-4 game. All of their guests signed the pieces. Another super cute detail? The couple made their two dogs the flower girl and the ring bearer! They wore a suit and a dress!
