I first met this family at a wedding I photographed last year at Wind Mountain Ranch in Stevenson, Washington. Todd was the officiant for the wedding, which happened to be between my friends. So, I was very excited to hear from them a few months later when they were looking for Christmas photos. I was even more excited that they wanted holiday family photos in a Christmas tree lot in Sellwood Portland. Holiday Family Photos In A Christmas Tree Lot
This family lives in southeast Portland and found this adorable Christmas tree lot in Sellwood. The Christmas tree lot had an awesome vintage camper parked in the middle. It was a perfect backdrop for holiday family photos. Even thought it was very sunny, it was also extremely chilly! Cold weather is always the biggest obstacle to outdoor holiday photos. But with a little thoughtful planning in your outfits, it doesn’t have to be miserable! This family did a great job coordinating a fashionable winter look. I loved their matching flannel shirts, and their jackets worked well to pull the look together. Because of that, they were able to wear their coats for much of the session. They would quickly pull the coats off for a few shots, and then throw them back on to warm up.
Vintage Red Radio Flyer Wagon
Their daughter was such a gregarious model. Toni searched for days for a red radio flyer wagon for the shoot, and was finally able to find one. Her daughter looked so cute and had so much fun pulling around a small Christmas tree in the wagon. It made for a great prop that she was more than happy to roll around wherever I asked her to go. At one point she put her stuffed velveteen rabbit on top of the tree in the wagon and was pulling it around. Toni has since given birth to a new baby girl. We spent a morning doing some lifestyle newborn and family photos in their home a few weeks ago. Stay tuned for those images posting soon!
