Anytime I get to photograph a Portland McMenamins Wedding I am excited! McMenamins is a PNW staple with vintage details and an intimate courtyard ceremony spot, it was the perfect venue for this non-traditional Portland couple.

Portland McMenamins Wedding Venue

If you’ve been to any McMenamins Hotel you know the rooms are interesting, this one had some great art as well as large windows for both the bride and groom to get ready in! This non-traditional couple chose to spend the morning of their special day getting ready together. The groom was in and out, setting up and entertaining family before the bride put on her first (yes I said first!) wedding day dress. It was emerald green and looked stunning on her. The couple procured their flowers from a local market and the make up artist lended a talented hand to assemble them into the brides beautiful bouquet.

Ceremony in the Gymnasium Courtyard

The intimate ceremony was in the Gymnasium Courtyard, and the couple wrote their own vows. At McMenamins Kennedy School the courtyard is near the soaking pool and after the couple said their “I do’s” and was pronounced married the pool erupted in cheers; I wish I could have captured the sound to go with the photos!

After the ceremony we went to take bridal portraits around the grounds and in the Boiler Room Bar. The family portraits were in a lush landscape area off a main side walk. McMenamins offers a lot of variety in the shooting locations for all types of wedding portraits.

Once we completed portraits the bride left to change into her second dress, also green! I loved the sparkles on this dress!

This couple wanted a casual, laid back, no stress day with only their closest friends and family and they definitely achieved that!
