Earlier this month I was back at one of my favorite venues for a super fun Portland wedding at The Orangerie!
Portland Wedding at The Orangerie & Blockhouse
The Orangerie is the sweetest little greenhouse tucked away inside Pomarius Nursery in Industrial NW Portland. The greenhouse is characterized by its lush greenery, expansive clear walls, and an abundance of natural light, creating a serene and romantic atmosphere. Because The Orangerie is already full of lush green plants, this cute couple opted against additional flowers (aside from a bouquet!), and let the space really speak for itself. This venue is perfect for an intimate gathering, which is just what the couple envisioned for their day. They had only their closest friends and family in attendance, and the joy was palpable.
It was such a refreshing and laid back evening, with an easy-going flow. We started with a first look, and then some portraits of the couple followed by some friends. Even though there was no memo sent out, six of the bride’s girl friends wore long green dresses which was fun. But to top it off, even I was randomly wearing a long green dress… so serendipitous! There were lots of candid moments in between as guests were arriving and saying their hellos. The couple’s daughter also had a little first look with her parents, and she was gifted a tiny little bouquet. She was definitely the social butterfly of the event!
After the ceremony, we took some more portraits with family, while guests enjoyed cocktails, and then it was time for dinner!
Blockhouse Reception
Blockhouse is a chef inspired kitchen that is also tucked away inside Pomarius Nursery. A clear-ceiling tent covers the patio area that is between The Orangerie & Blockhouse, which makes this a great venue year round, in all seasons. Cheryl’s on 12th catered a delicious meal, and Papa Haydn provided some gorgeous desserts. There is also a bar set up in Blockhouse.
You could use any of the three spaces in a variety of ways, and it’s always fun to see those differences between events. This couple used the Orangerie for the majority of events, aside from their cocktail hour, which utilized the patio and the Blockhouse space. But guests flowed between the three spaces throughout the night.
