If you’ve followed my work for any time at all, you can certainly tell that I love shooting in nature. My images are often full of lush greens and plenty of trees. Even if I’m shooting at a venue that is in the city, I’ll find the one tree around! Therefore, when I learned that this sweet couple planned to marry at one of my favorite outdoor locations in Portland, I was counting down the days! They had a Redwood Deck wedding at Hoyt Arboretum. The redwood deck is built in the middle of a redwood grove. It was so romantic and magical.
RAINY MAGICAL CEREMONY
It was a very rainy October day, but that didn’t stop everyone from having a wonderful time. Everyone just grabbed their umbrellas and huddled together to celebrate. Tall trees always help provide a bit of shelter from the rain as well, so it really wasn’t so bad!
The bride was so calm and serene the whole day. Can we talk about how cool and romantic her wedding dress was? Also, she has a huge love for flowers, and had a specific vision for her floral arrangements. These flowers were definitely the most beautiful arrangements I’ve seen in a long time! Seriously, ANNA MARA FLOWERS did such a wonderful job.
After the intimate ceremony in the forest, everyone headed to SE Portland for a dinner reception at The Country Cat’s Calico Room, where the food was delicious…. and the best biscuits I’ve had on the west coast, hands down. Maybe even the best biscuits I’ve ever had. The Calico Room had such a warm feel to it, and looked great with the centerpieces. Such a great little venue for an intimate gathering. And the food, y’all. So good. I need to make some plans to go check out The Country Cat for lunch or dinner sometime.
And, if you’re planning a redwood deck wedding at Hoyt Arboretum… be sure to give me a shout!
