This Troutdale House Weddiversary Celebration had a few fun surprises. The city recently cleared out some trees behind the venue, revealing a gorgeous new river view right in the backyard. They’re even building a little riverside park and walkway, which will make this already charming venue even more magical. Add in a couple who have been together for twenty years, a bride in a showstopping cloud-like gown, and a day full of laughter and games, and it made for such a joyful celebration.

I started the day like I do most weddings, beginning with the bride getting ready photos and then moving to the groom. The bridal suite was absolutely bustling with energy. The bride had all her favorite people there, and she wanted it to feel reminiscent of when they all lived together sharing one bathroom mirror. Mission accomplished. There was laughter, chaos, and so much love packed into that space.

The couple shared their first look beneath a canopy of vibrant yellow autumn leaves. It was such a beautiful, emotional moment. Afterward, we made our way down to the newly opened riverfront area behind The Troutdale House. The city recently cleared out some trees, revealing a gorgeous view of the river, and they’re even adding a little riverside park and walkway soon. I love that this is now a new option for photos and can’t wait to visit again once it’s complete.
It was an extremely windy day, but the bride’s attitude made all the difference. Her dress was spectacular… elegant and poufy, like a giant cloud… and the wind gave it incredible movement. Instead of worrying about her hair or dress, she just went with it, and the result was pure magic.

This couple absolutely loves Disneyland. The groom even joked that he basically works just to afford their trips there. They brought along their own lightsabers for a few portraits, which was such a fun personal touch. We did a few by the river during daylight and then again later at dusk for some moody, cinematic shots. They also had Disney themed aprons to wear during dinner which I thought was a brilliant idea. And I’m surprised I’ve never seen this before… especially when something like pasta is being served! I mean, red sauce and fancy white dresses… it makes sense.

The ceremony took place in the Wisteria Garden, which looked extra charming with golden leaves scattered across the ground. The couple provided cozy blankets as guest favors, which everyone loved since it was a bit chilly that day.
The bride’s sister officiated, and the ceremony was full of heartfelt and unique touches. One of my favorite moments was when the guests counted up from one to twenty… one for each year the couple has been together. After each number, the officiant shared something significant that happened during that year. It was such a creative, personal, and moving way to celebrate two decades of love.
There was even a funny moment when the ceremony paused for a train passing by, which added some unexpected humor and made everyone laugh.

After the ceremony, we gathered everyone together for a big group photo taken from the balcony inside the rustic lodge. I hadn’t done that before at this venue, but it worked out really well and captured the entire group together perfectly.
The reception that followed was intentionally relaxed and fun. Each table had a game to play, and guests were encouraged to record their winners on a chalkboard scoreboard. It made the whole evening feel playful and connected. Later on, the dance floor opened up for some lively moments, including the Macarena and a Cumbia dance to honor the bride’s mom’s family traditions.
This day felt so genuine, joyful, and laid back… exactly what the couple wanted. After twenty years together, their “weddiversary” was the perfect way to celebrate a love that’s already stood the test of time.
