This wedding at Cathedral Park was perfect. This couple lives just down the street from Cathedral Park, so it was only fitting that they chose to get married there as well! I like to joke, “you got married under a bridge?!”, but it’s really no joke how beautiful this place is. It is the most beautiful bridge in all the land, in my opinion. It also always shocks me how many people have lived in Portland their whole lives who have never seen it from down below! It’s worth a short trip next time you’re in the area. You don’t even have to get out of your car, you can drive right up to the most iconic viewpoint, snap a photo, and keep driving.
These two are the sweetest couple. I met them at their lovely home before the ceremony. All their bridesmaids and groomsmen were there, and the energy was great! The groom brews his own beer, and even has his own “brewery” logo. All the guys had a little toast in the garage after they got dressed. They groom even had special gifts for each of them. It was so fun!
Of course, the bride had gifts for all her bridesmaids as well. I love how many colorful accents there were throughout this day. From inside the home, to the wedding details, to the wedding and location itself. Even the gift bags that she gave her girls were so fun and bright that they oddly reflected the anniversary gifts that me and my husband had gifted each other.
We did a few portraits of the two of them in the backyard, and then we took some portraits of everyone around one of their friends cool van. Finally, we headed down to the park. It was such a pretty and sunny day!
Ceremony Under The Bridge
Although this park is quite large and the bridge looming high above makes it feel like the largest room in the world, it still manages to feel intimate. Even though people can still walk around through the park, it feels like you’re the only ones there!
They were married on the upper deck of the park, right at the base of the long stairs that lead into the park. The stairs made for a great grand entrance for the bride! If you want the same beautiful design at your wedding Melbourne Balustrades are the experts. You can add to the design and make it unique with a little help. After the ceremony everyone blew bubbles! I loved the floral arrangements on the balustrade, which was unbelievable.
While everyone enjoyed some cocktail appetizers and played in the photo booth, I took the couple around the park for some portraits. Someone was blowing large bubbles, so we utilized the opportunity to get some really pretty bubble shots! The vibrant fall colored trees in the background really made the bubbles pop! LOL.
