I found myself photographing another wedding at Weddings on the Hill last weekend. If you’ve followed my blog for long, you’ll know that Weddings on the Hill is one of my favorite venues in the Portland area! It’s actually in West Linn, but that’s close enough. I love how I can photograph multiple weddings at the same venue and it never feels the same. It’s really all about the people for me! And I loved working with this gorgeous couple and their fun friends and family. Each wedding I photograph this year feels more and more “normal” as we enter life post-pandemic. It’s so great to start celebrating with bigger and bigger parties again! As much as I love intimate micro weddings, I also very much love giant celebrations!

Wedding at Weddings on the Hill

I started this day with the bridal party in the bridal suite and then headed down to the basement for some groom time. Once they were both ready, they wanted to have a “first touch” as opposed to a first look. We put up a dressing screen outside so they could be next to each other without seeing each other. They exchanged gifts, chatted, and held hands, it was super adorable. Afterward, we did portraits with the bridesmaids and then with the groomsmen. Shortly after it was time for the ceremony. I’m sure you’ve all heard that there’s always something that goes wrong on the wedding day, and it’s true! Crazily, the officiant for this wedding did not show up, but luckily, the maid of honor is a pastor and was able to step in with literally a moment’s notice! This was her first time officiating a wedding and she did a great job. Sometimes the things that go wrong, can be favorite memories later.
