Capturing a wedding in the Cascades is always an adventure. And a recent one at Timberline Lodge was nothing short of magical! Nestled high on the slopes of Mount Hood, this venue offers breathtaking views. It helped turn the couple’s special day into a fairytale. It is an absolute joy to witness and immortalize candid wedding moments that are as unique as the couple themselves. The blend of romance and nature provided the perfect canvas for vibrant and fun wedding photography. I can’t wait to share the details!

A Perfect Mountain Backdrop

The first thing that strikes everyone as they arrive at Timberline Lodge is the unbelievable scenery. The Cascade Mountains, with their rugged peaks and serene beauty, provides a perfect mountain backdrop for the day. Imagine exchanging vows with Mount Hood towering majestically in the background. The natural splendor added an extra layer of romance and awe to the event. Whether it was the sunlight streaming through the trees or the snow-capped peak in the distance, every element contributed to creating an unforgettable setting. The couple couldn’t have chosen a more stunning location. The setting at Timberline Lodge truly made this wedding in the Cascades one to remember.

Fall Ceremony in the Raven’s Nest

This wedding was full of delightful, unique elements that reflected the couple’s personalities. The bride always dreamed of a fall wedding on a mountaintop. There were fall colored leaves, pinecones, and pumpkins used throughout the decor. It was all very cozy. The bride even had the wood-burning fireplace going in her room when I first arrived. She was beaming joy all day.

Capturing Candid Wedding Moments

Candid wedding moments are the heart and soul of a wedding album. At Timberline Lodge, I focused on capturing genuine interactions. From the bride’s infectious laughter with her bridesmaids to the groom’s quiet, reflective moments, each candid shot tells its own story. One of my favorite images was taken outside when the bride realized guests were waving at them through a window. As a photographer, blending into the background allows for these natural interactions to unfold. The key to candid wedding photography is patience and being ready to click at the perfect moment.

Favorite Photographs and Angles

Choosing a favorite photograph from this wedding in the Cascades is no easy task. But a few stand out in my memory. One shot that truly captured the magic was taken from a lower angle, looking up at the couple as they shared a romantic moment with Mount Hood in the background. The grandeur of the mountains emphasized the intimacy of the moment. Another favorite is a wide-angle shot during the first dance. It captured Mt. Hood through the window of the Raven’s Next.
