This wedding at Lake O’ The Woods Plantation in in Warrenton, NC was amazing.  This is one of the most beautiful plantations I’ve been to, even though it’s in the middle of no where.  It was a gorgeous day for a gorgeous couple.

First the bride chose to have a “first look” with her dad… and then secondly, a first look with her groom!

Most of their guests were from California, Florida, and New York and they wanted to make sure they had plenty of time to mingle during the reception, so they chose to do a first look.  So sweet!

I think the biggest question for couples when it comes to doing a first look is whether it will take away from the first look during the ceremony.  I think this bride can attest that it did not take away from the ceremony… as soon as she started walking down the aisle and looked up at her groom she started crying and she and her dad had to walk very very slowly so that she could compose herself:)

Beautiful Wedding Portraits

This couple have a calm confidence about them that makes them so easy to photograph.  Because of that, my favorite images from the day were the portraits of the two of them.  In addition, the rooms inside the Plantation offered great light and color.  Their first look was in a room with textured red walls and a vintage ladder used to hold books.  The red walls were romantic, and the light created a haze in the air.  There was also a vibrant yellow room, with great art and a piano.  Did I mention they have accommodations on the grounds as well?  The family and wedding party all stayed at the venue.  Having all the wedding day preparation in the same place makes the day much less stressful.
