This wedding at The Laurelhurst Club was very romantic. If you’ve ever spent much time in Portland, you’ve most likely taken a stroll around Laurelhurst Park. It’s one of the prettiest parks in the city. There are majestic tall evergreens and even a large duck pond. The backdrop makes for beautiful portraits. What most people don’t know, is that right next door, nestled in the neighborhood, is an adorable venue called The Laurelhurst Club.

The club is an especially fantastic wedding venue for someone who loves Laurelhurst Park. In fact, it is literally steps away! The club itself reminds me of a rustic cabin. There’s a cozy fireplace, and a bar area in the upstairs loft. The loft looks out over the lower floor, which makes for a great area to watch the dance floor below!

Outside, the lawn is nicely manicured. In the springtime, colorful rhododendrons bloom around the yard. Couples can have their ceremony on the small stage in the back yard. Because it was raining on this wedding day, the couple chose to have their ceremony in front of the fireplace, but another option is an indoor stage.

Bride & Groom Portraits at Laurelhurst Park

Although it was raining, we were still able to do portraits outdoors! Another great thing about Laurelhurst Park is all the tall trees. The canopy provides nearly complete shelter from the rain. Therefore, the bride, groom and wedding party only needed umbrellas for the quick walk across the street.

After we took some portraits in the park, it was time for the ceremony! As guests arrived, they visited the upstairs bar for a drink and to mingle with friends and family until it was time to begin. The wedding party made their grand entrance to the ceremony from behind the curtains on the stage.

The bride cried happy tears as she began reading her wedding vows, which first made everyone laugh, but afterwards there wasn’t a dry eye in the house! The fire paired with the steady rain, made the mood extra romantic.
