This was the second weekend in a row that I photographed a wedding at the International Test Rose Garden! What are the chances?! It so happened that this ceremony took place in the Shakespeare Garden as well. Which I think is the best spot in the garden for a wedding!

If you’ve never checked out the famous rose garden in Washington Park, July is the time to do it. The roses were in peak bloom. They looked and smelled fantastic! Tucked away in a corner of the garden, you’ll find the Shakespeare Garden. It is surrounded by hedges, and a large tree provides a nice canopy. Which makes the whole space feel like its own private room. It definitely makes for a sweet and intimate space to tie the knot. That’s where these two held their ceremony, with a handful of their closest family members.

I first met the groom at the entrance to the garden, and I photographed him seeing the bride for the first time. Next, we spent some time taking couples portraits around the garden. Then it was time for the ceremony! The bride’s dad was the officiant… so sweet. They had bubble machines that made bubbles at the end of the ceremony!

Bride & Groom Portraits around Downtown Portland

After the ceremony, the couple mingled with their family for a bit in the garden. Next, we headed downtown for some more bride and groom portraits around Downtown Portland and the waterfront. The couple had the idea to get some portraits taken next to Mills End Park (the world’s smallest park), so that’s what we did! Then we found some random streets with interesting colors and textures. Finally, we headed to the final event destination of the day for their reception.

Wedding Reception at Lobby by Lechon

The couple had their wedding reception at Lobby by Lechon. Lobby is a cute and intimate event space owned and operated by the delicious South American inspired restaurant, Lechon. Delicious foods and cocktails were served. There were toasts, and there was even a photo booth!
