Since they live out of state, I met these two for the first time on their wedding day. I knew right away that I was going to love working with them! Their art deco wedding at Kennedy School was gorgeous.
First of all, anyone who chooses MCMENAMINS KENNEDY SCHOOL for their wedding venue automatically gets a thumbs up from me! They were both so cheerful and friendly as soon as we met. I was over the moon ogling over all of the bride’s art deco details. When she pulled out her perfume for the day, an egg shaped bottle with gold details, that perfectly fit the look of everything else, I was told that it wasn’t just a theme for the wedding day, but that this style is just who she is through and through. The bride’s tiara was worn by her grandmother at her own wedding.
I think this may be one of the first weddings I’ve photographed that didn’t incorporate floral into the reception decor. Large white feathers and pearls made up the centerpieces. I loved it! So simple, but made such a statement. Framed antique black and white family photos on each table added a personal touch. The bride did have a lovely calla lily bouquet that she carried. It was definitely fitting for the themed era.
They started with a small private ceremony in the courtyard. It sprinkled rain just enough to have people wondering, but then cleared up in time! Cocktail hour was in a smaller bar in the venue. Afterwards, tons of guests started arriving for the party. And a party it was! The main reception took place in the old school gym. The outdoor courtyard allowed guests to mingle indoors and out.
Best wishes you two!
