This was the cutest red barn wedding in Canby, Oregon. The barn is over 100 years old, and the groom’s parents recently built a home on the property. It made the perfect venue for a wedding. You guys, this home is amazing, and in such a scenic location! We started the day with getting ready photos of the bride in the main house. The mother of the bride helped her into her dress, which had the prettiest lace overlay. Afterwards, I photographed the groom getting ready in an apartment above the detached garage. Once they were both ready, I set them up for their first look. I loved the symmetry of the doors and lighting in front of the garage, so I put him in place and had the bride sneak up behind him. So cute!
Red Barn Wedding
The decor of this wedding was really great. Vintage runners lined the ceremony aisle, and instead of using arranged floral bouquets for around the venue, they used lots of potted plants and flowers. The potted flowers were placed in rustic items you might find around a farm, such as a metal milking can, and produce crates. They also decorated two wooden ladders that were used as the ceremony arbor. Smaller vases filled with wildflowers were on the reception tables. The bride also carried a wildflower bouquet. And I loved that the inside of the lower half of the barn is primarily white, as opposed to natural wood. Therefore, it really brightened the space for the reception.
They wanted to get married with the surrounding fields as their backdrop, which is just what they did! Since it was in the middle of the day in summer, they had a tent for their guests to sit under. Of course, that was so thoughtful! I’ve been to many mid-day outdoor weddings where the guests are sweating and squinting at the sun!
