I’d been looking forward to this romantic wedding at Holly Hedge Estate for over a year! I was even more excited after they visited Portland for THEIR ENGAGEMENT SESSION! Finally the big weekend came and I headed off to New Hope, Pennsylvania (near Philadelphia) for their wedding day. It was such a beautiful venue!
Romantic Wedding at Holly Hedge Estate
The skies threatened rain all day. Although the ceremony was moved inside last minute, just in case, it held off until late into the reception.
From the estate’s website, “A premier destination for unique weddings and corporate retreats in historic Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Our family-run, family-owned business has committed itself to preserving the rustic elegance and natural beauty of our 18th Century farm and estate.”
The overcast skies, and the large windows inside the dimly lit field house made for an especially romantic ceremony mood. Before the ceremony, however, these two had the sweetest first look. I’m in love with the bride’s dress. The two-toned lace bodice just looked amazing on her. And what about those sparkly hot pink heels?!
Garden Portraits & The Reception
The overcast skies made for some lovely light for the couple’s portraits. Seriously, this estate has some beautiful gardens. There was so much variety for backdrops around the venue to choose from. The stone and brick buildings, ivy covered courtyard, grassy fields, and wooded areas were all perfect.
Finally, the reception was held in a more ballroom style building. The live band kept the dancing going for hours. The bride surprised the groom with a doughnut cake that looked delicious. He took a bite directly from the top of it! We took a short break to do some nighttime photos, and had fun playing with off camera lighting.
To sum up, I had such a great time working with everyone at this wedding! In fact, I also got to see one of my past favorite couples, Molly & Bobby (Katherine was a guest at THEIR OUTER BANKS WEDDING several years ago)!
