Sunflowers & a ski resort gave this summertime wedding on Mt. Hood lots of charm. I love Cooper Spur Mountain Resort, and have had the pleasure of photographing quite a few weddings there. Although it’s a decent size resort and hotel, weddings always feel so intimate there. Maybe it’s because you get the whole entire place to yourselves (and your guests) when you book it for your special day!
Sunflowers & A Ski Resort
Believe it or not, I’m pretty sure this is only the second time the mountain has been visible for the events I’ve photographed here! One time there was a nearby fire, causing smoky skies, and the other time was in wintertime, causing foggy skies! So, it was exciting to have the mountain looming over the ceremony this time! Mt. Hood is always so beautiful. I never tire of seeing it.
The sunflower bouquets were perfect for a cheerful summery feel. I’ve been seeing sunflowers all over Portland, in everyone’s front yards and gardens. It’s definitely that time of year! I love when couples choose florals that are in season and local to the area. They look amazing and hold up so much longer throughout the day.
Reception On The Grand Lawn
The ceremony was held across the street from the resort, behind a gorgeous log cabin lodge that is part of the venue. The bride & bridesmaids got ready there, and the ceremony was held in the back yard. Afterwards, everyone walked the short distance back to the main resort’s Grand Lawn, for the reception.
Lawn games were set up, cocktails were served, and Alex, of Mr. Elive productions entertained with music. I love the venue’s white dance floor and white tent. It makes for such vibrant and clean dancing photos! Sometimes reception spaces can be so dark, or have weird colored walls or floors that makes everyone’s skin take on those hues… so I’ll take a crisp white dance floor any day!
Oh, and can I just say how much I loved photographing the many expressions of their adorable son?! He cracked me up all day with his expressive personality and high energy. He is definitely the opposite of camera shy!
