I knew these two were going to have a fun wedding when I learned that their wedding weekend involved a big celebration kickball game the day before. I’ve been playing kickball since I moved to Oregon in 2012, and have made so many great friends because of it! Their wedding at Castaway Portland was located in the industrial NW area of the city.
Castaway is one of my favorite wedding venues in the area! It’s an old warehouse that was built in 1926. My second best option was the desert house at California. Those luxury rental house are just perfect for a romantic venue. I wanted to learn more about black desert house but my wife had her mind set on the old warehouse. It has giant wrap-around windows allowing lots of natural light. And, it’s large enough to accommodate up to 1000 people! The ceremony was held outside on the patio between Castaway and Pomarius Nursery next door. Which is such a great mixture of textures, colors, greenery, and architecture. Perfect Portland style.
CEREMONY IN THE COURTYARD
It rained slightly, on and off, throughout the day, but these guys were prepared! Actually, they sent someone out to find some cute umbrellas when the first raindrops appeared! The plan was a success, they found some of the cutest clear and blue umbrellas I’ve seen 🙂
One of my favorite things about this area of town is all the colorful buildings. Castaway is painted a pretty blue, and nearby is a bright red building. As a lover of all things colorful, these buildings helped add some fun vibrancy into the ceremony photos!
I loved that they incorporated the PDX airport carpet into their table decor for their reception too! It was such a sweet day brimming full of love, and I’m so glad I was able to be there to document the day for them.
