I love this place! This wedding at Lost Lake Resort & Campground was the most laid back, fun and colorful wedding of the year! I’ve been visiting Lost Lake ever since I first moved to Oregon in 2012. Day trips up there is one of my favorite summertime activities. So, I was more than thrilled to be asked to photograph this weekend celebration! This couple are great friends of mine as well! I met the bride when I first moved to Oregon as well, when I did some work for the salon she worked at. She immediately became my favorite hair stylist ever, and our friendship grew!
The evening before the wedding, everyone got together for a rehearsal cookout. There were stories around the campfire, wood chopping prep, and even a pinata for the kids. Although, I’m pretty sure the adults were more into the candy than the kids were!
The next morning, bridal prep started. Happy tears were shared, vows were written, and champagne toasts were made!
CEREMONY AT THE LAKE
The ceremony happened in the outdoor amphitheater area (I think that’s what they call it!). They had the cutest DIY ceremony arbor, and all the colors looked great against the huge green trees, blue sky, and peeks of blue lake water in the background. Mexican serape blankets in all different colors were spread out in the grass for guests to sit on. Not only was this a great idea for obvious reasons, but the guests could then take their blanket home with them as a favor! Colorful papel picado flags were also strung up between trees, adding to the festive mood!
Instead of having a formal cocktail hour, they gave their guests a few hours to relax and play on the lake between the ceremony and reception. FANTASTIC IDEA! Everyone got to swim and boat around during the warmest sunniest part of the day. Afterwards everyone met at the reception pavilion for the party! They cooked a pig, had some musicians play for some dancing, and had an amazing charcuterie spread. Everything was so colorful… just my jam! Anyone looking for a great outdoor venue should consider a Wedding at Lost Lake Resort & Campground!
