If you’re just tuning in to my blog, Hi! I’m a Portland wedding photographer, Crystal Genes Photography, and one of my favorite shoots of the year was just featured on Wedding Chicks! A couple of months ago, a huge team of talented wedding creatives gathered forces at the Oregon Coast, for this beautiful French-blue-and-red inspired elopement shoot!
All things French blue and coastal leisure inspired this shoot. Add a touch of French charm, and classic PNW road trip vibes, and voila. We added pops of red for a fun and dramatic contrast color. The main features of this shoot included a low picnic sweetheart table so the bride and groom could sit on pillows on the sand for dinner. We also had a separate “cocktail” lounge on a large round rug surrounded by pillows. The couple could enjoy drinks and a lovely charcuterie platter. In addition, we had a cute red teardrop camper, named Amerigo, set up as the bar and dessert station (plus honeymoon cove). Surrounded by gorgeous grassy dunes on one side, and the expansive Pacific Ocean with cliff views in the distance on the other side, who wouldn’t want to elope in such a beautiful location?! Del Rey Beach is in Gearhart Oregon. The beach is a highway. It made for a great location. We had no trouble pulling the teardrop camper right out onto the sand. The couple could camp right there after the wedding, or take off on a fun honeymoon road trip afterward. Or both!
Fashion Tailored, based in San Francisco, custom designed the groom’s beautiful suit. Coincidentally, the bride’s dress is also from San Francisco. Betty’s Girl Napa custom designed the vintage inspired dress. The designer included the vintage lace for a French feel and included touches of french blue to tie in with the suit. The jeweler created rings and a necklace apart from a photo necklace, that resembled the texture of driftwood, which is abundant along the Oregon Coast. We had a baker make little loaves of french roll bread to use for the place settings.
Flowers by Alana drew inspiration from the beauty and natural details of the Oregon coast. She incorporated Quicksand roses and pampas grass blooms to match beach sand. She used light blue hydrangea, blue delphinium, eucalyptus, and blush-colored Keira garden roses to mirror the soft pastel palette of an ocean sunset. And added salal greenery, which grows native to Oregon along the coastal landscape. To contrast the pastels of our palette and to match the red color of the camper trailer Amerigo, Flowers by Alana brought in pops of red with Freedom roses, butterfly ranunculus, safari sunset, and spray roses. She also added pops of white anemone with dark navy centers for a dramatic contrast to the pastels. She opted for a more traditional on-the-ground ceremony installation, so as not to obstruct the natural beauty of the scenic background, and to create an intimate spot for the nuptials.
Wedding on Wheels is an elopement wedding package that was began shortly after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, when engaged couples were changing up their wedding plans and opting for adventure elopements and intimate weddings rather than canceling altogether. A Wedding on Wheels elopement package includes a colorful teardrop camper trailer from Oregon Teardrop Rentals, photography from Portland Wedding Photographer, Crystal Genes Photography, an elopement wedding flower package from Portland wedding florist Flowers by Alana, and a small elopement wedding cake. Add-ons like champagne and additional florals can also be added. Couples choose their destination for their Wedding on Wheels adventure elopement and the trailer, flowers, champagne, and cake will be delivered to their chosen destination site, along with a photographer to capture their intimate wedding or elopement ceremony.
