This was my first time photographing a wedding at this venue, and it did not disappoint! Plus, I got to work with one of the best wedding planners in town, Nicole Issler Events. So, I knew the day was going to be perfect.

The couple really wanted me to focus on documenting all their friends and family, so I started the day watching all the guests arrive. Actually, I wasn’t just watching them lol, I took them each aside for a portrait as they arrived! Of course, I captured lots of candids during this time too. This is one of my favorite parts of the day to photograph. Everyone is always the most smiley when they first arrive and are seeing all of their friends and family for the first time that day (or in a while!).

Next, it was time for the ceremony. They had the cutest flower girl, and the bride was walked down the aisle by “Flower Beard Man”. At least, that’s the nickname I gave him during family portraits, and it seemed to stick lol.

Mini Golf and Dancing

After the ceremony, there was a lovely cocktail hour under the covered patio. The couple had a telephone guest book, which is always a fun hit with guests! They also made mixed CDs with all of their favorite songs as guest favors. Another unique touch the couple included in the day, which I had never seen before, was floral rings. Instead of corsages for special family, the florist, Urban Elements Floral Design, made wearable flower rings. They were amazing and held up so well throughout the whole day!

After dinner and toasts, there was a surprise for the guests….free mini golf! Who wouldn’t want to offer mini golf at their wedding? It was a fun little activity, especially for the younger kids. The Aerie have two mini golf courses right behind the reception site, and one course was available for the wedding guests to use. And in between all that, there was plenty of dancing for everyone!
