I love these colorful family photos at Peninsula Park! While weddings have slowed a bit this year, family photo sessions have been nearly non-stop! I think this is because there’s not as much travel or gatherings happening these days. Parents are working from home, and schooling from home, so it’s easier to make time for updated portraits! I have 2 openings left in September and a few in October, so send me a message if you’re interested in booking before it’s too cold outside!
Flowers By Alana
I especially love these portraits because they are of a local wedding florist who I have become friends with this past year. Look up Flowers By Alana right now and follow her on Instagram! I’ve been lucky to work with her on several weddings and styled shoots, and she is the sweetest and so talented.
I’ll be honest. Although I’ve been photographing weddings for 16 years, I really haven’t made many connections in the wedding community over that time. As the photographer, the vendors I see most at weddings are the DJ and the coordinator/planner, if couples have them. The florist is usually long gone once I arrive, as is the cake artist. And I usually show up right as the makeup and hair artists are leaving.
This is a big reason I started Nw Wedding Underground last year. It’s a website that features local wedding pros. About once per month, I help put together a styled shoot at different venues and spend the day hanging out with other wedding creatives. It’s been so wonderful finally getting to know some of my colleagues in the industry!
Colorful Family Photos at Peninsula Park
Anyway, back to these photos! Alana’s kids are so stinkin’ cute and have so much personality. And I am so happy over her daughter’s dress! I seriously saw it in the store a couple of weeks ago and was sad it didn’t come in adult sizes. It’s always easiest to photograph kids with energy and independent personalities! I feel like the most candid natural moments come from that energy. And I love all the sweet and fun moments we captured during this session.
We all know how much I love color, so I especially adored their fun color palette! Granted, both blankets that we used were ones that I brought along, but they happened to coordinate perfectly. And can we take a moment to note how pretty Alana is? This is one of my favorite headshots of the year. Actually, it was very hard to choose just one for the blog, they are all so lovely!
